DHOOM DHAMAKA AT THE DAVIS RESIDENCE..(translated as ROCK N ROLL AT THE DAVIS RESIDENCE)

After a meaningful Independence Day celebration At Don Bosco’s we loosened our hair and tightened our instrument strings and voices at Colin & Marie’s home..Colin and Marie thoughtfully invited the whole gang to say a fond farewell to Melvyn & Astrid. Marie true to her artistic style set the ambience in her lovely home with candle lights all around , even by the poolside..The entire evening shaped up in its own glamour and had its own ‘episodes’..... The STARTER episode-the intial warm up chit chat while some delicious hummous ad veggie sticks did the rounds..then of course an outburst of starters followed complete from spring rolls to chicken kebabs and as we are well aware the start to a great evening always begins with the STARTers.. The Instrumentalists Episode-Our extremely talented and professional musiciansBob,Fr.Edison and Bob Jr got out their instruments warmed up their instruments with Blue Moon the ambience now sparkled with music..Of course with these great musicians no one can keep themselves too far away from joining in and thus followed.. The Main Musical Episode with power packed musical enthrallment with the entire group lending and exercising their vocal cords..All kinds of songs did the rounds complete from Pop to Blues..Best described as The Musical Hour..!and while some gave their vocal cords a break a small group of others continued with the oldie hits.. Peth Pooja Episode was as some Indians call it –peth (read payt)pooja..or stomach worship..!and Marie saw to it that our stomachs got no less than thorough worship with exotic ethnic ethereal dishes ranging from tongue tingling tandoori chicken to Bombay duck chilly fry,our gangs everlasting favourite-sorpotel and a HUGE spread of vegetarian dishes from paneer to uttapas..After all that worship, was another buffet..the dessert buffet with everything from buko salad to a variety of cakes, brownies, ice creams etc..Marie really can give the 5 stars a run for their money with such spreads.. The Medley Episode-Well,the musical liqueur to the evening after the stomach worship came when Savio mysteriously got out his own guitar and entertained us all with one medley after another complete from goan mandos(folklore) to the east Indian masala..Of course, the exclusive feature of this episode was a perfect and crisp melodious duet from Savio & Beverly. At the rate and volume at which we were singing am sure dasma ave too joined in with the dhoom dhamaka..! The evening ended with an Invite from Marc & Susan as a continuation of the farewell to Astrid & Melvyn..Astrid at the rate ur going I think ur giving GMA serious competition..!Colin & Marie you’ll are the most gracious hosts ever..We felt so comfortable and relaxed at your lovely home..Its only coz of your gracious hospitality and love that 26th Aug was an evening of true DHOOM DHAMAKA.. (Note:special thanks to Colin & Marie for the superb photos!)

INDIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY IN THE PHILIPPINES !!

What could be the significance of Indian Independence Day for an Indian expat , student living outside India???Well, something to think about really.. < href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7523/1312/1600/christopher.jpg"> It was a proud moment for us as our kids and teens very enthusiastically participated in The Mass in whatever task they were assigned-reading,the offertory and even offering up their own hand made Indian flag ! The enthusiasm was so high that even kids who has just returned a day before from their holiday from the U.S bravely fought the jet lag as they went through The Offertory procession.Of course the children were suitably rewarded By Fr.Edison with a special blessing, a medal and picture of The Assumption for all of us.The ambience and the beautiful cosy chapel truly ‘bound’ us together in friendship and prayer All of us worked in front and behind the scenes to make The Mass enjoyable and lively.Proof of it are the pics..! We were specially happy to note that it was a nice group of ten families whom Astrid and Melwyn had got together in Feb 2006 and are now going strong.Unfortunately our ‘facilitators’ Astrid and Melwyn are now carrying to Mumbai on their new assignment.we will really miss you’ll ! The Mass was brought to a close with Our National Anthem which we sang in all gusto, since it had been a long time since we heard or sung it. Of course no Catholic or Indian celebration is complete with a good meal and we had a sumptuous Italian meal complete with pizza , pasta and all the ‘ni’s’(tortelloni, cannelloni)at Amici d’ Don Bosco a great Italian restaurant at Don Bosco’s. A surprise text was sent by Marie inviting us to her place on 26th Aug as a farewell to Astrid & Melvyn. So watch this space for more ‘live’ action from the Catholic Indians’…..we’re getting HOT…!!!! JAI HIND FELLOW BRETHREN !! (Note: Here are some interesting pictures of the event, just a few of them!)

three c's-chai chat and children

while the men were at work some of us were at play...i meant the kids were.. getting inspired to get the baby kids of the clan together, justin was moderator of kid play of course..just a handful of us.. well am not going to record the minutes since every issue discussed was rather volatile..from the baby learning 'po' much to her mother's shock, us forcibly interrogating a teenager about the teenage clan's love interests(am sure he's vowed never to come this way again), an extraordinary experience had with a maid(u had to be there to hear it,its never gonna be repeated)to moving and packing...phew well yes it took up quite a bit of our energy neevrtheless we had a great time..relaxing,casual yet fun.. sorry no pics since it was impromptu and am no gizmo freak like my better half..so women, lets chill out with the 3c's sometime soon again..
